The Cottage is ideally situated in the centre of Cornwall, giving easy access to both the north and south coast.
National Trust property Lanhydrock, is a 5 minute drive away. Here you will find a historic house, acres of parkland, and beautifully tended gardens. There are off road mountain bike routes, and bikes can be hired from the bike centre.
The world famous Eden project is a 15 minute drive away .
The Cottage and the Farmhouse are, themselves historical. In the farmhouse garden, there is a Grade ll listed Cross. The farmhouse features in two stained glass windows in the village church in Lanivet.
Lanivet village has a pub serving quality meals, a chip shop as well as a well stocked convenience shop.

Local Recommendations
Polkerris Beach~ lovely beach with SUP, canoe hire. There are a couple of pubs/restaurants that serve lovely food with a great view of the sea.
Porthpean Beach~ SUP and canoe hire, quiet beach which is not lifeguarded. In the summer it has a cafe and toilets open.
Moneyready Beach- quiet beach near to Fowey, lovely beach cafe and loos!! Great for swimming (not lifeguarded, but separated from the sea with a lane rope), in the summer it has a pontoon which you can jump off.
Fowey- Lovely coastal town, great pubs, fabulous walks and views across the downs.

Tourist Attractions
As you no doubt know, Cornwall has many attractions and places of interest and excitement for just about everyone. There are many opportunities for surfing, water sports, theme parks, castles , museums, zoo, great food, wine and beer tasting, activity parks etc.etc.
We’ve listed below, just some of the many ‘very local’ attractions and provided some brochures to help you choose what to enjoy while you’re here in beautiful Cornwall.
Camel Trail
Great for a family cycle, walk and seeing the wildlife on the Camel River. It uses a disused railway line from Padstow to Wadebridge, Bodmin or Wenfordbridge. You can jump on the Camel Trail at Dunmere (less than 3 miles away) or cycle via quiet country roads to access it at Nanstallon. There’s a lovely 2 mile down hill to get to it, although it is 2 miles uphill to get home!!
There is a free car park at the rear of The Borough Arms, Dunmere Road, Bodmin (less than 3 miles away) that gives direct access to the Camel Trail.

Lanhydrock ~ National Trust
Bodmin PL30 4AD (8 minute drive) lots of lovely walks as well as the historic house and stunning gardens. There are some fun off-road bike trails around Lanhydrock grounds with routes to cater for all abilities .

Cardinham Woods, Bodmin
Postcode PL30 4AL. (10 minute drive) Some lovely walks, picnic spots as well as some off road bike routes to cater for different abilities. There is a visitor centre and a cafe.
Saints Way
The Saints Way is an ancient footpath which runs from Padstow to Fowey. It follows a probable route that early Christian pilgrims used making their way from Ireland to Brittanu or Santiago de Compostella in Spain. It covers 27 miles, the mid point passes through Lanivet and it uses quiet country lanes and footpaths
Lanivet is the halfway point and it's an easy half mile walk from The Cottage to access it
Helman Tor
Lovely walk on “the Wilderness Trail” to Helman Tor, great views of the surrounding area. (It can be a bit muddy in places, so wear suitable footwear)
Bodmin Jail
Immersive visitor attraction, where you can explore the history of Bodmin Jail and some of the infamous inmates. Berrycoombe Road, Bodmin (10 minute drive)
Eden Project
Explore massive covered Biomes to trek through the world’s largest indoor rainforest and immerse yourself in the calm fragrance of the Mediterranean Biome. ( Bodelva, Cornwall PL24 2SG, 20 min drive)
The Bodmin and Wenford Railway
The Bodmin and Wenford Railway operates steam trains through some beautiful countryside all year round. Trains start and finish at the station in the centre of Bodmin. (10 minute drive, PL31 1AQ)
Bodmin Moor
Bodmin Moor is a wonderful place to explore by car, on foot or on horseback. The landscape is varied but always beautiful. Places we particularly like to visit include: Delford Bridge near St Breward; Rough Tor - the highest local peak - just the other side of Camelford; Golitha Falls and the Cheesewring, near Liskeard.
Please take appropriate clothing with you when you are on the moors, the weather can change quickly.
The Camel Valley Vineyard
(Four miles away) is located between Wadebridge and Bodmin and also offers samples in their shop.
Pencarrow,
Pencarrow House and Gardens has 500 years of history. This large Georgian house with extensive gardens , ranging from formal landscaping to ancient woodlands is only 4 miles away at Washaway near Wadebridge.
Wadebridge
Wadebridge has some lovely independent shops, a town museum and the John Betjemen centre where you can find out more about the late Poet Laureate and his links to Cornwall.
GOLF

Within half an hour's drive
Trerice is a beautiful Elizabethan Manor House with gardens at Kestle Mill just beyond Newquay, run by the National Trust.
Carnewas to take in the spectacular views of Bedruthan Steps and visit the National Trust Cafe and Shop.
Mevagissey (fifteen miles away) is an attractive harbourside village that was once the centre of Cornwall’s pilchard fishery . It still boasts a working harbour with a few dozen small fishing boats. There is a wide variety of independent gift shops, craft workshops, galleries, cafes and pubs.
Trevibban Mill Vineyard and Orchards (17 miles away) where you can sample wines, or have lunch or dinner in beautiful surroundings overlooking the vineyards.
Newquay,(eighteen miles) has fishing boats in the old harbour, the Huer's hut on the headland, or the famous surfing beaches such as Fistral.
